NEWARK FREMONT TRANSPORTATION PROJECT

The Mission
"Provide accessible transportation for Ohlone students & the surrounding community; regardless of social class, background, or transportation restraints"

The Plan
The Bay Area Young Advocates plan can be understood in 3 simple steps:

-
Generate Interest
-
Build Support
-
Bring to Fruition
In our current phase, we are working to develop a proposal for a nominal increase in student tuition to raise the money to fund the project. The bus will be paid for students by students and operated through AC Transit.
Helps deliver student customers to local establishments
Pre-Paid passes for all Ohlone Students
Save students time from longer route every day
Get's cars off the road, helps fight traffic & global warming

ADA accessible for students of all backgrounds
Affordable to all students
Seasonal per student demand
Benefits to Students
Public transportation is extremely important to the students of Ohlone College. Many rely on AC Transit as their main source of transportation to get to and from campus. As Ohlone College has a Newark and Fremont campus it becomes difficult to travel between.
This project seeks to promote
Community Building
Accessible Education
Decongestion of Traffic

Students need quick and reliable transportation.
Our Solution
Current AC Transit routes take extremely long and conflict with class schedules. We envision a faster solution.
Current: 105 minutes
-
Long route
-
Bus transfer
-
Extra stops
-
Traffic
Proposed: 45 minutes
-
Stop at Pacific Commons
-
Stops at local businesses
-
Fastest route possible
Less time on bus = more time in the classroom.
